Little Bloomers is a faith-based childcare ministry that we are proud to have as a part of our church. This ministry is directed by Maggie Walker and Katie Smith, both of whom are members of our church. Our goal at Little Bloomers is to offer children a safe place to learn and grow, not only in their education but also in their faith. We offer care Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 6:00pm year-round, only closing for just one week each year. We look forward to partnering with families as we guide their children to develop a love of learning and a love for God.Â
Our Story
Director Maggie Walker and Assistant Director Katie Smith have worked in the childcare field for a combined total of more than 40 years. When their former place of employment closed down, God opened many doors and led them to start a child care ministry in their home church.
After operating for just over a year, Little Bloomers became the second registered ministry in Delaware County to obtain its Voluntary Certification Program (VCP) Status. This achievement opened up numerous opportunities for us to improve our child care services, as well as join Indiana’s voluntary ranking system, Paths to Quality. Currently, Little Bloomers holds a Level 3 rating, which has allowed us to join the On My Way Pre-K program, which better prepares children for kindergarten. Additionally, we are enrolled in the Child and Adult Food Care Program, which allows us to provide more nutritious meal options for children. Lastly, Little Bloomers is a proud CCDF provider.
After 7 years, it was time for expansion. We opened the church’s fellowship hall as a second facility, Little Bloomers 2! This new space allowed us to expand our program, freeing up another classroom for Little Bloomers, giving our school-age program the extra room it needed to grow.

Our Philosophy – We strive to see that every child who walks through our doors experiences biblically-based, developmentally appropriate practices. Our goal is to help children build character and knowledge, become active and healthy, and engage with the community. Through our program, teachers support each child through the critical stages of emotional, cognitive, social, and physical development. Our vision is that for every Little Bloomer to grow into a beautiful, God-loving individual.
